Licensed for day and evening, we typically serve locally-sourced, seasonal lunches, afternoon teas, home-baked cakes and according to our regulars, ‘the best scones in Barney’. All delivered with our famous ‘Witham Welcome’. Have a look at our current menu here.
The Witham Café Bar is at the heart of the light and airy atrium that bridges two heritage buildings – one Georgian – the other Victorian. It’s an architecturally award-winning space with an outdoor seating area, meadow and a creative caravan-cum-shepherdess hut nearby for children to explore.
By arrangement, you can enjoy drinks and light refreshments in the evening. It’s lovely outside in the meadow on a balmy evening.
Dogs are welcome in the café and outside and service dogs can go wherever you might want to take them. Parking is really easy, and the nearby long-stay car park only costs £1.50 for the whole day. Or you can park for free on the cobbles at the front of the building.
The café can cater for events such as children’s parties and funeral teas. We’ve been known to do sensibly-priced parties for weddings held elsewhere in Barnard Castle too. Live music, ceilidhs and Irish dancing are our speciality for that event you’ve been meaning to arrange for years…
