Southmartins Acoustic – Beautiful South and Housemartins Hits (18+)
‘They’re really good’ – Paul Heaton, speaking on BBC Radio 2
Given they’re celebrating his songbook then that has to be the best recommendation The Southmartins could get, surely?!
Tonight we bring you some of the 80s and 90s mightiest pop songs in a stripped-down 4-piece format that allows the band to move from the tender to full singalong-anthemic (bet you know every word) with ease. Mellow this ain’t!
Expect a hand-picked Southmartins selection of smart, melodic pop songs such as Happy Hour, You Keep It All In, Rotterdam, Me and the Farmer and Song for Whoever from a band usually found in bigger rooms, including an annual headline show at Newcastle City Hall.
Opening act Acoustic Weller will be warming things up with some of The Jam, Style Council and Paul Weller’s greatest hits. Rated as a Saturday night out, this one feels like a Perfect 10… Are you ready?
Running time: approx. 2 hours 15mins including interval
