REM by Stipe (18+)
‘These guys are awesome’ – Michael Stipe.
Era-defining songs such as Losing My Religion, It’s the End of the World as We Know It, Everybody Hurts and Stand are recreated with passion and skill as Richard Southern’s carefully-crafted vocal pays homage to Michael Stipe’s unique and enigmatic voice.
The first half of tonight’s show is full-band unplugged / acoustic – whatever they call it these days. Stipe don’t do this set very often and it was pin-drop perfect last time we caught it. Then they’ll crank it up and rock out for Part Two. Taken together it makes for an thrilling journey through some of the greatest leftfield pop songs ever written. The band play across the UK, tour Europe regularly and have recently completed their first set of shows in Australia. When promoters are willing to fly you half way across the world and REM’s main man calls you ‘awesome’ then you must be doing something right!
