Life Drawing for all abilities with Sarah Nelson
Tuesdays 6.30pm to 8.30pm
Life drawing is the foundation of confident drawing. Learning to truly observe helps establish skill with proportion, movement, tone and expressive mark-making. Whether you are a beginner, building on existing skills or returning to drawing after a break, this mixed-ability class provides a supportive environment in which to develop.
As a practising artist, gallery owner and experienced tutor, Sarah, brings both technical knowledge and a passion for drawing to every session. Her teaching encourages curiosity, and experimentation together with plenty of practical guidance, helping each student progress at their own pace. Working from a professional life model, you’ll be challenged to look more closely, draw more freely and discover news methods of working.

What format will the classes take?
Working from drawing boards standing or sitting, we will usually begin with four or five short one to two-minute poses to loosen up and let go inhibitions. We will then look in more detail at two longer poses before a quick 10 min tea/coffee break. The class will finish with a single 45 min pose, giving opportunity for more considered drawing. This is not a rigid format, we will vary it from week to week to keep us challenged and engaged.

Newsprint (like newspaper but without the printed text) and charcoal are provided. You may wish to bring A3 size 120-160 gsm + cartridge paper for the longer poses, as this will allow working into your drawings.
