Our Centre Manager Susan Coffer shares the latest update on The Witham’s closure
As you know, we closed The Witham to business on Friday 20 March and that unfortunately means until the Government lifts the restrictions there is no work for the majority of our staff.
We greatly value the whole Witham team and it is a huge relief that the Government’s Job Retention scheme will support staff for whom the work has gone. To use the technical jargon most staff have now been furloughed. This means they remain employees of The Witham, but will not be at work until we are able to re-open the building.
For the time being, we are maintaining a skeleton staff in order to continue to manage the business, the building and communications. This includes Susan Coffer, Centre Manager, Laura Shaw, Office Administrator and Sarah Gent, Programming & Marketing Manager though this situation will be reviewed as time goes on.
The Witham Board of Trustees continue to meet on a regular basis, though we are now present via the magic of Zoom, an online meeting platform we can access from home.
