This morning, we were delighted to host 34 dancers as a showcase of the Silver Swans Ballet Classes, run by Joyce Jeffrey.
Joyce’s popular classes meets on Tuesdays in the Music Hall here at 9am and then for the second class that started due to the popularity of this class at 10am. However, for this special showcasing event, Joyce invited members from her other classes that meet in Marley Hill, Coxhoe, Ferryhill and Barnard Castle.
Developed by the Royal Academy of Dance, the Silver Swan’s programme is based on research into dance practice for older learners and classes can only be taught by Silver Swans® licensed teachers.
As Joyce explains:
More and more older participants are enjoying my classes and feeling the benefits – which are not just physical, as ballet also helps with wellbeing and provides social interaction and some lovely friendships can develop through attending a weekly class.
Whilst classes are aimed at adults aged 55+ you are welcome to attend if you are younger! I can always adapt to suit different levels of ability, or you may attend one of my other Adult Ballet classes.

A massive thank you to Joyce for bringing this wonderful class to The Witham and to all of the dancers for sharing your beautiful ballet moves.
