The Castle Players present: These Things Do Happen
‘These Things Do Happen’ is an award-winning comedy by Stewart Howson. It is by turns, thought-provoking, heart-warming, and hysterically funny, and explores the lives of northeast farming folk during the late 1930s and early years of World War II.
Originally commissioned by York Theatre Royal, the script was inspired by oral history interviews with farmers and forms part of a cycle of plays entitled, ‘Country Voices’. The play was nominated for the Theatre Managers’ Association (TMA)/Martini award for Best Ensemble Performance and won the London Weekend Television ‘Best Plays on Stage’ Competition.
