Plants on the Edge: Teesdale’s Tiny Giants
Teesdale Special Flora Trust has had a history of surveying and campaigning for the unique flora of Upper Teesdale since the 1960s.
Recent surveys have found that almost all of the 19 rare species of flora recorded, including Spring Gentian, are now in only half the locations they were found in 50 years ago.
The Plants on the Edge project addresses this decline by continuing to survey the populations and distribution of the rare species, trialling practical management actions for species recovery, and promoting the unique flora to you.
This exhibition highlights the work of Teesdale Special Flora Trust’s work to address the decline of the flora and features artwork created by the young people of Teesdale working with local artists, Sara Cox and Alex Jacob-Whitworth.
