Sunday Classics: Deborah Thorne and Nicholas Butters
Deborah Thorne (cello) and Nicholas Butters (piano) perform works by Beethoven, Debussy, Cassado and Franck.
Deborah Thorne studied at Clare College Cambridge, Royal Academy of Music and Maastricht Conservatorium and joined the Northern Sinfonia in 1986. She has extensive experience playing baroque cello most recently in the Avison ensemble and Haydn festival orchestra and enjoys a wide-ranging musical career as player and teacher and chamber music coach.
Nicholas Butters teaches and is an accompanist at the Centre for Advanced Training at Sage, Gateshead, and has just retired as a lecturer and musical director at the Institute of the Arts, University of Cumbria. He is in demand as an accompanist for choral societies, performers and students across the region.
