John Otway is an English singer-songwriter who has built a sizeable cult audience through extensive touring, a surreal sense of humour and a self-deprecating underdog persona.

Expect madcap mayhem and some scintillating stunts from a man old enough to know better…..and be surprised at just what a showman and musician really lies underneath the tomfoolery.

In 2016, Otway announced that he was planning to record a new album. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, he took his band to the Caribbean island of Montserrat to become the first international recording artist to record there since the Rolling Stones in 1989. The result was Montserrat – the first album of entirely new and original Otway material in over ten years.

“He’s a cabaret act masquerading as a rock act. He is gleeful, anecdotal, funny and life-enhancing.’” Canterbury Fayre Review.

“…this guy has survived more than four decades with a dedicated following because he is a poet and genius.” News Reporter, Sunderland Echo.

Support Act will be local singer-songwriter, Sam Nix from the North East. With a wide range of influences from across the Americana and Folk scene, and his dry, but sweet vocal, acoustic instrumentation and modern lyrical perspective he has crafted a fresh original sound.

Inspired by artists such as Christ Stapleton, Jade Bird, James Bay and Scouting For Girls, he took up song-writing at young age and soon too became a multi-instrumentalist. After becoming a full time musician in 2018 and having airplay on BBC Radio Tees Introducing he began playing in venues across the North from Newcastle to Manchester and now looks to expand his following to the rest of the UK and beyond.

As of late 2021 he is in the process of recording his first EP with known producer Chris West, which he plans to release in early 2022.

This is a standing gig.
