When
Carrying David interview with Micky Cochrane
The remarkable true story of boxer Glenn McCrory and his heart warming relationship with his brother David is brought to life and back to the stage in this powerful and gripping production.
Adapted from McCrory’s autobiography of the same name in a funny and dramatic play by Ed Waugh, it takes us from the streets of County Durham and the industrial North-East to London and beyond, through the experiences of the two brothers and an unforgiving and rollercoaster boxing career. Inspired by the courage of David, who defied expectations in his battle against a terminal illness, McCrory fights back from the brink in a bid to become the first world champion from the North-East of England on an unforgettable night in his home town.
Superbly directed by Russell Floyd with an outstanding performance from Micky Cochrane as Glenn, Carrying David is an inspirational and uplifting tale of love, hardship and struggle and triumph over adversity.
“Cochrane brought a perfect blend of humour, grit and boundless energy. Had the audience on its feet”, Belfast Telegraph.
“Superb…it has emotion and heart, and is incredibly uplifting…you don’t need to be a boxing fan to enjoy this” – Sunday Sun
