A group of volunteers at The Witham is assembling an archive of its history, and will put on an exhibition in September based on the many materials to which we have access.
As well as tracing The Witham’s origins as a Dispensary and Mechanics’ Institute, the exhibition will highlight its role as a community centre – especially for the many groups in recent times that have used the buildings for their activities, meetings and entertainment.
Personal mementoes of The Witham – stories, photos, posters, documents – would greatly enhance both the exhibition and the archive. We should love to hear from you if you are able to contribute, or lend, any items of your own. We will only use these in the exhibition with your permission.
You can contact us by post at The Witham Archive Project, 3 Horse Market, Barnard Castle, DL12 8AA, by email to [email protected] (subject heading ‘Memories of The Witham’), or by calling in at reception and leaving your contact details.
