Julia’s fascinating library raises over £1200 in support of The Witham

The Witham team would like to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone for their support of the Book Sale on Saturday 28th September 2019.

Our friend and volunteer Julia Wright ( on the left of the photograph below with Shelagh Avery in December 2018) left her fascinating library of books to The Witham, following her death earlier this year.

Thanks to the efforts of the volunteer team led by Nicky Grace and Lusia McAnna, friends and supporters of The Witham organised the book sale and it was a huge success, raising in excess of £1.200 to support Barnard Castle’s community arts centre.

In addition to the sale of books, the raffle raised £130.84 (thanks to all who donated prizes including Julia’s family). Many people also gave additional donations.

As The Witham’s Chair of the board of trustees Shelagh Avery said, ” It is fantastic to have such support for The Witham and this is a wonderful memorial to Julia. Our heartfelt thanks to all involved.”
