Dance like no one is watching!

The Witham’s Sarah Gent shares exciting news of those with an adventurous dancing spirit!

We are delighted to announce that, thanks to the MOVE grant fund from the Arts Council, The Witham is working in partnership with balletLORENT to commission a new dance piece, Witham Dances, to be performed at The Witham on 25th June 2020.

Inspired by contemporary dance company Ballet Lorent‘s The Night Ball, Witham Dances will celebrate the pleasure of dancing freely alone, closely in couples and as a vibrant group of energised people of varying ages and life experience.

Witham Dances will be a dance theatre piece performed in the round alongside three leading balletLORENT dancers on 25 June, and we would like as wide ranging individuals as possible to join us!

There is a workshop to allow us to meet and have a taster session together to see if this experience is a good fit for you on Tuesday 3rd March from 4 – 5.45 pm. It’s only £3 per person to book the workshop and participation from then on in is free. You can book into this by clicking here.

Whether you’re 8 or 99 years old and everyone anything in between, we welcome you to join us with your own individual experience and stories of social dancing. We will weave together your dances with ours and put together a short performance to be performed cabaret style at The Witham on 25th June.

No experience necessary – but a desire for adventure and working kindly in a group of people is essential!

We would love you to come and watch the company perform our new production, The Lost Happy Endings – balletLORENT, at Darlington Hippodrome on Saturday 22nd February, giving you the chance to see on stage some of the dancers who are going to be performing alongside you in this special opportunity to create a new memory for The Witham.
