Sarah Gent, Programming and Marketing Manager, writes in response to the #BarnardCastle news this week.
We are proud of #BarnardCastle.
It is a place well worth a visit with a host of amazing places to discover such as The Bowes Museum, T C R The Hub, the English Heritage Castle (once you’ve found it) and Raby Castle very close too. The Witham community arts centre (when we are open) is well worth a visit too!
We are a market town with wonderful independent shops such as Oswell’s, Curlews Book Shop, Chocolate Fayre, Vintage Essence, Ruby&D, Robsons Antiques, The Collector Antiques, Connelly’s Toyshop, Fox and Field Countrywear, Allium Interiors, Niche, Sandra Parker Gallery, Ingnet Antiques, Chris Mouncey Watercolour Artist and many more.
We are a place of fine food and drink thanks to Number 15 Coffee House, Clarendons, Babul’s, The Three Horseshoes, Valentines, Oliver Twist’s Sandwich Bar, Shirl’s Shakes, Firkin Alley Micropub, Blagraves House Restaurant, Bengal Merchant and lots more. Oh and not forgetting the fish and chips from Katies Traditional Fish & Chips and No 149 Burrells Traditional Fish and Chips. And of course the The Corner Bistro, Moments Cafe and Penny’s too!
We might be in lockdown but our community makes parades happen anyway, thanks to Covid Cutzs and The Barney Meet!
Hurrah for our fantastic town! Shout out to #BARNARDCASTLE!
