The Witham is a thriving arts centre situated in the heart of Barnard Castle. The Witham presents a varied arts and events programme of films, live music, theatre productions, family activities, and of course exhibitions, making it a busy, well-loved, and well-visited venue.
There are opportunities to sell and exhibit work in three different areas of The Witham (Gallery at The Witham, Shop at The Witham, and Dispensary Gallery at The Witham) each with their own focus.
The Witham encourages group applications from regional, early and mid-career artists wishing to exhibit in The Gallery.
Please download the Visual Arts at The Witham Artist Application Pack for information about applying to sell and exhibit work at The Witham.
Here at The Witham arts centre, our passion, imagination and determination are boundless – unlike our resources!
The Witham is a registered charity run by a small staff team and supported by volunteers. We, unlike many arts organisations, don’t employ a fundraising specialist; we regularly apply for, and secure grants, but we are not a regularly funded organisation. This means that we rely on donations, volunteers, ticket sales, gallery sales, custom in the Dispensary cafe and the support of our Friends to ensure our survival.
The Witham continues to go from strength-to-strength thanks to the fantastic support and enthusiasm displayed by the local community. However, we need to ensure our future is secure and you can help us do just that.
There are three key ways that you can get involved - by donating, becoming a volunteering and joining our Friends of The Witham Scheme.
Donating to support the arts in our community
The Witham is a registered charity dedicated to enabling cultural, community and commercial events and activities to take place in Barnard Castle for the benefit of residents and visitors.
