Christmas Shopping at The Witham

Written by  Thursday, 29 November 2018 15:12

Our Volunteer Marilyn Normanton writes about the exciting new stock at The Witham that will help fill stockings this Christmas.

Do you want to give the people you love meaningful and appropriate presents at Christmas but find it can become a bit of a chore? In that case we’d love to see you at The Witham, where we want to make shopping easier and more enjoyable for you with a selection of attractive, good quality and affordable gifts for all the family.

We all know someone who is particularly hard to buy for and a Witham gift voucher could be the answer. Valid for a year, they can be exchanged for event tickets or spent anywhere within The Witham. With the recipient choosing how to use the voucher, this is a gift you know will be appreciated.

Should you prefer to give something more tangible, our new jewellery stock includes the very affordable “Tide” range as well as unique handcrafted items. These include the lovely resin pendants of local artist Jane Young (see photo below), dainty necklaces and bracelets by Rachel Proudfoot and Elaine Freeth’s unusual silver and copper pieces.

Simon Griffiths’ bronzes are very special and range from the small Dormouse and Wrens to the larger Partridge. Pottery by local ceramicists Lindsay Starborn and Judith Walker is both beautiful and useful. Keyrings and walking sticks from J-Tal are meticulously handcrafted from wood and horn or antler, each being totally individual. Ann Whitfield’s colourful prints of local scenes are very appealing and make a great gift too.

Always popular are fragranced candles and besides larger candles we have flower tealights, a great stocking filler. Our new selection of beautiful scarves is being sold as a fundraiser for The Witham and with colours and patterns to suit everyone, these make a highly acceptable present.

Children can be hard to please, but our puppets would delight any child. Let them entertain you and develop their creativity with dragons and dinosaurs as well as traditional animal puppets. Finger puppets are great stocking fillers and for the very youngest we have adorable Wilberry Snuggles soft toys (see the delightful Dragon at the top of this page).

These are just some of the new products in The Witham shop, with more to come. Make it easy on yourself and take the stress out of your Christmas gift buying. Call into The Witham today, do your shopping in comfort and relax afterwards in our cafe where you can be sure of a warm welcome and delicious food.

Thank you so much to both Marilyn and Peter for all your hard work sourcing these lovely items from the whole team here at The Witham.
